what are the best graphic design programs?

like flash, photoshop, photofiltre, gimp, what are some other really good ones?
maybe some ones that have animation?

Most professionals use Adobe Photoshop for editing pictures and Adobe Illustrator for drawing. However, GIMP and Inkscape are both free and equally capable of producing quality products.

I personally think Photoshop is the best.
You may want to upgrade to CS4.
Illustrator is great for creating vector graphics.

If he is using his own computer I would recommend purchasing a Dedicated Graphics Card.
